Luis
A son who thinks he doesn't need his dad, and a diagnostic that says otherwise.
- The brief
- SPARQ AI is there for you in moments of need, with your car and beyond. AI has been villainized as soulless, the Terminator. These :75 films flip it: a tool that amplifies people's humanity and empathy, helping drivers claim their safety, their trust, and ultimately their freedom.
- My role
- Writer, concept, dialogue
01 · The treatment
Returning to roots. Luis is ready for an "I told you so" and mutes his long-winded immigrant dad to ask SPARQ instead. SPARQ confirms Dad was right all along, and the tech brings them back to the dinner table.
02 · Copy direction
- Three people, three visceral life stages: reclamation, reinvention, returning to roots.
- Tell it through phones and artifacts: texts, a box of his things, old trophies. Barely any spoken lines.
- SPARQ never sells. It runs a diagnostic and says one human sentence.
- Warm light, less shadow. AI as a friend in the passenger seat, not a robot.
03 · The rewrites
Draft 1Cut
"Papi, I just need you to come here and fix it. I'm in a rush."
Polite. No friction to resolve.
Draft 2Cut
"Pops, I'm not doing this with you right now, I'm already running late."
Real impatience, so the turn means something.
Alt endingCut
"Hey SPARQ, can you find any issues?" "No thanks, my dad's got it."
Cute, but SPARQ loses its role. Cut.
FinalFinal pick
"Yes, Papi. I'll be at dinner tonight."
SPARQ proves Dad right and gives the moment back to them.
04 · The final product
Yes, Papi. I'll be at dinner tonight.
05 · The metric
Skeptics who were worried about AI taking over their car asking for product demos with genuine curiosity.
Audience consistently reference the spot to ask if that was within the “real” capabilities of our AI since it sounded so human.
04 · The script — sample
INT. GARAGE — IRVINE — MORNING
Car, hood up.
LUIS (on phone)
Pops, I'm not doing this with you right now. I'm already running late, can you just pull up and fix it?
DAD (O.S.)
What's wrong with the car?
LUIS
If I knew that I wouldn't be calling you. I can see some liquid under the car, what does that mean?
DAD (O.S.)
If you're seeing liquid on the floor, there might be leakage from the coolant.
LUIS
You're not even here, how would you know? (mutes) Hey SPARQ, can you find any issues with my car?
SPARQ
"Hey Luis, there appears to be a coolant leakage on the Coolant Thermostat (P0128)."
BEAT
His father was right. Humility. Maybe Dad has more to teach him.
LUIS (unmutes)
Yes, Papi. I'll be at dinner tonight. (He's not in a rush anymore. Closes the hood, light.)
END
Hood closes, transitions to SPARQ logo.
